Seo Young Deok

Seo Young Deok is a South Korean sculptor. Seo’s chain sculptures reflect his observations of the modern-day busy life and its characteristics. Humans’ relationship with industrialization, technological advancements, and loneliness are all themes that shine through in his work. Through his sculptures, the artist creates a space for viewers to consider things from multiple perspectives.

Each chain piece that come together to create the whole evokes curiosity and wonderment in viewers. That something so cold and rigid as a metal chain could capture the fluidity and complex emotions of humans is difficult to believe until it is seen.
